SUMMARY:Feast Day of Our Lady of Sorrows
DESCRIPTION:Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows on September 15. Saint Ambrose and the Legion of Mary will pray the Rosary of the Seven Sorrows of Mary on Monday\, September 15 at 7:00 pm in the Church. \n\nAll are welcome to pray and reflect. \nThis feast day honors Mary’s deep union with Jesus\, sharing in His suffering during His Passion and Death. It is when we commemorate the Seven Sorrows that the Virgin Mary experienced throughout her life.\nMary stood fearlessly at the cross while others fled. Mary looked on at her Son’s wounds with pity but saw in them the salvation of the world. As Jesus hung on the cross\, Mary did not fear to be killed\, but offered herself to her persecutors. \nWhen we pray the Rosary of the Seven Sorrows of Mary\, we enter the mind and heart of Mary and reflect on the seven major sorrows in her life. Our Sorrowful Mother can teach us much about the sanctity of suffering and be a source of consolation to all who suffer. Mary walks with us on our\njourney to God and understands our struggles and pains. \n\n\nThese are the seven main sorrows Mary experienced\, according to our faith: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSimeon’s prophecy: A sword will pierce her soul (Luke 2:35). \nThe flight into Egypt: Fleeing King Herod to protect the infant Jesus.\nLoss of the child Jesus for three days: When Mary and Joseph searched for Jesus in the Temple. \nMary meets Jesus on His way to Calvary: Seeing her Son carrying His cross. \nThe crucifixion and death of Jesus: Her presence at His death. \nThe body of Jesus being taken from the Cross: The anguish of seeing her Son’s lifeless body. \nThe burial of Jesus: The pain of His burial. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLearn more about the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows here.

SUMMARY:Legion of Mary Bowing Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:The Saint Ambrose Parish Legion of Mary invite all to the Bowing Procession for the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.\nThe procession will be held prior to the Vigil Mass in the Church at 6:30 pm. We will begin with the procession and pray the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary. \nIn the early centuries of the Church’s history\, the Feast of the Assumption was a day of great religious processions. Starting in some small towns around Rome\, a fascinating custom for this feast day is called “the bowing procession”. The statue of Mary is carried through the church symbolizing her journey to heaven. The statue of Jesus is also carried through the church. Jesus is coming to meet his mother.  The procession with the statues of Jesus and Mary meet under an arch of flowers and bow three times. The decorated arch of branches and flowers represent the gates of Heaven. Mary is met by Jesus. They solemnly bow towards each other three times to remind us of Jesus welcoming His mother at the gates of heaven. Our Lord is leading His mother to her throne in heaven.  This simple ceremony is a striking way of expressing  our belief that  after her  life on earth was finished\, Mary  was  taken  up  bodily  into heaven  symbolizing her  entrance into eternal glory.
